Earlier this week I had the privilege to experience the new movie by Angel Studios called, The Sound of Freedom. All I can say, especially if you really do not know much about human trafficking and child exploitation in the United States and globally, GO SEE THIS FILM – and then TELL OTHERS. For me, this was the best movies since watching Free Burma Rangers at the start of the plandemic, not because I narcissistically sought out to entertain myself to death, but because this topic has needed to come to the surface publicly for decades.
Consider the passages of Scripture below. And let me add, I know what some of you may say, “that’s the old testament,” or “that is just for Israel,” or even yet, “that does not pertain to the church or me today,” however, these statements are like a pail that is full of holes with no integrity as to hold water. Absolutely, context matters, however – “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” 2nd Timothy 3:16, 17
“Thus says the Lord: Do justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has been robbed. And do no wrong or violence to the resident alien, the fatherless, and the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place.” Jeremiah 22:3
“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8
“Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?” Isaiah 58:6
“As I live, declares the Lord God, your sister Sodom and her daughters have not done as you and your daughters have done. Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy.” Ezekiel 16:48, 49
I have been following the operations against human and child trafficking over the last decade and I must have asked the Lord a thousand times (at least feels like it), “What can I do?” I sit in no real position of authority, I do not have the training of a Special Forces soldier, I do not have resources beyond our weekly expenditures, so what can I do?
Well, I have known for awhile, that whatever little sphere of a world that I live in I can share with at least a few others, both verbally and through writing, to make the needs known. Even more so, I can pray. However, to do absolutely nothing, here I find an equal evil as to the crimes against children (and humanity) – for to do nothing is an evil in itself and one that gives itself to the approval of the actual evil being committed. Bonhoeffer has stated – “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.“
We can be like the ‘two-Harriets‘ of the civil war era, Harriet Tubman and Harriet Beecher Stowe. Tubman was like ‘Moses‘ to the African-Americans of her day and the ‘conductor‘ of the Underground Railroad. Stowe was the author of Uncle Tom’s Cabin, of which it is reported that Abraham Lincoln said upon meeting Stowe, “so you’re the little woman who wrote the book that started this great war.”
What does this say about those of us who have not the political, legal, nor financial power to make much of a change (or so it seems)? We can also be story tellers. Who knows who might hear, and in the Lord’s providence, able to engage in the missional war of fighting for the voiceless, the poor, the persecuted. Shall we not speak out, and do more if able, about the worst global slavery of all time and knows no bounds of skin, sex, or cultural borders?
Watch the trailer and interviews below regarding the movie, with the real life Tim Ballard, and learn more. Maybe you have computer skills and want to use your talents. If so, check out Skull Games Task Force. At least be a voice.
By the way, over 200 children were rescued and over 20-plus traffickers were caught during the filming (listen to the interview below with the four men).
I smell a world ’round-up’ about to be the likes we have never before seen.
Then again, we are seeing depravity of the likes we have never before seen come to light.

For those of us unable to be the ‘boots-on-the-ground’, we can be the ‘pray’ers, givers, and story-tellers’ who support the work. As the HeartCry Missionary Society founder has said, “We either go down in the well or we hold the rope for those who go down; either way, there ought to be scars on our hands.” He also said, “If we are strong, we are strong to help the weak. If we have opportunity of an education, we help those of our brothers and sisters who have had no opportunity. If we have wealth, it is for our brothers and sisters who have none.”
“Machine-Gun Preacher” interview
Ashley Moody, the attorney General of the state of Florida, sent Mark Zuckerberg a scathing letter today regarding human trafficking on the Meta platform. Of the 271 recorded instance, 146 were directly attributed to the Meta platform.
According to the Federal Human Trafficking Report, Facebook was the number 1 platform in recruitment of human trafficking victims from 2019-2022. Facebook and Instagram accounted for 60% of all human trafficking cases.
