Today’s Rhetoric is Depravity Unmasked.

Today’s Rhetoric is Depravity Unmasked.

Let those of us who, by our own admission say we follow the One True God and are Christians, not fall prey to the ploys of Satan. Let us “take heed lest we too fall.” However, be wise and understand as to what is really being said and happening before our very eyes.

Question for you (and me) is: How do I know that I stand on the side of what is truly good?

Answer: Am I walking with the life-changing, sin-killing, grace-giving, mercy-holder who first-loves, first-awakens, first-renews and is quickening my body, soul and spirit, bringing discipline and conviction that I am being made in the image of His dear Son? Is my life being washed by the water of the Word of God and willingly submitting to His Word?

“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight!” Isaiah 5:20, 21

“For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 2nd Timothy 3:2-7

“Do you not understand that everything that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach, and is eliminated? But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile a man. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, theft, false witness, slanders. These are the things which defile the man…” Matthew 15:17-20

“This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.” James 1:19-22

Where are the young men and women of this generation who will hold their lives cheap, and be faithful even unto death, who will lose their lives for Christ’s, flinging them away for love of him? Where are those who will live dangerously, and be reckless in this service? Where are the men of prayer? Where are the men who count God’s Word of more importance to them than their daily food? Where are the men who, like Moses of old, commune with God face to face as a man speaks with his friend? Where are God’s men in this day of God’s power?
