Unknown Sins

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself, “What sins do I have lurking, unknown to me, in the depths of my old nature?” Let me tell you, bring this up before the Lord in earnest petition and He will, in perfect due time, show you what you are not yet aware, even of yourself. As I was reading “The Valley of Vision” the other night, this very thing happened to me.

For the last week or more, the words written long ago have been at the forefront of my mind. I know that the Lord is still working within me regarding this dark area that now sits brightly before my eyes. Having read the words over and over, the confrontation of my conscience and my soul have collided headlong with the convicting work of God’s very Spirit. Thus, the truth revealed to me in this specific area of my life has been both good and blaringly painful. Lord willing, this will be a true blow to both my slow-to-die pride and my failure to remain vigilant and alert during the times I need most be aware of my great need.

Read below and consider for yourself…

“My sin is that my heart is pleased or troubled as things please or trouble me, without my having a regard to Christ; Thus, I am like Eli, the subject of punishment for not rebuking sin; whereas I should humbly confess my sin and fly to the blood of Christ for pardon and peace.”
The Valley of Vision, pg. 163

What a dagger! What truth! What conviction!

I am reminded…

“Who can discern his errors? Acquite me of hidden faults. Also keep back Your servant from presumptuous sins; let them not rule over me; then I will be blameless, and I shall be acquitted of great transgression.”
Psalm 19:12, 13

“Now if a person sins and does any of the things which the LORD has commanded not to be done, though he was unaware, still he is guilty and shall bear his punishment.”
Leviticus 5:17

“When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted away through my groanings all day long.”
Psalm 32:3

May the Lord do a work as only He can, both in bringing glory to Himself and in our continued sanctification, being made like His dear Son. May the Light of Christ continue to shine in the darkest recesses of our hearts brining about eternal good from the midst of darkness, despair and death.

Amen.
