Remember this: Convenience is most often not of God. Satan hates personal discipline, resolve and perseverance in all things and ways, both present and especially eternal. He operates very cunningly (deep deception) through distractions, ease, and self-gratifications – physically and mentally for the killing of spiritual truth.
Satan = deceptive thieving liar.
Devil = fake fear mongering lion.
Lucifer = presenting as being light.
So, we focus not on him, but only the Lord Jesus. Any and all things that causes us to be consumed with secondaries, even “good thing”, is not of God, but of the evil one. God’s will is not divided and He Himself is to be our first, our end and through the day focus. Zero to no time with Him (regardless of length) demonstrates our fruit and if our fruit is addictive and bad, then we are a diseased tree.
So, what then?
James 1:2 for the results of James 1:3-4. Yet beware of James 1:5-7.
Turning to the opinions of the world, other people, and self-entertainments is Satan’s deception. I too, still learning, have no excuse for no time with the Lord and He permits no excuses – this I promise you is truer than we know. So let us learn to be self-disciplined and resolved.
“Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.” Acts 14:22
Let us learn, like Spurgeon learned: “I have learned to kiss the waves that throws me against the Rock of Ages.”
For it is true, “Enertainment is the Devil’s substitute for joy.” L. Ravenhill And even more so today, it has become a harsh addiction of temporal mental fixes.
“We must hold sweet communion with Him. We must leave the distant view of His face and come near, as John did, and pillow our head on His breast; then shall we find ourselves advancing in holiness, in love, in faith, in hope – yea, every precious gift.” Spurgeon
“Bad company (online as well) corrupts good morals.” 1 Corinthians 15:33
Not only knowledge, but consistent intimacy with and self-application of God’s Word alone is crucial, else we are decided and are left to every false wind – thus we who profess be told, “be away from Me you who excused and deceived yourselves as mine” (paraphrased Matthew 7:21-23).
Get a resolve and remain focused. People are never to come before Christ, never. We help no one if we present ourselves like they are – that is a deception.
Amen.
