Is Christ Enough For Me?

If Christ indeed is enough, as I might claim to believe, then how is it that so many things can distract me? Yes indeed, deception is always lurking; and it is equally deceiving to give all my failures upon the serpent of old, Satan the master liar, the very Devil with a loud roar seeking to destroy me. For often times I am deceived by my own wicked heart (Jeremiah 17:9) and my own selfish desires (James 1:14, 15). I must simply do as Jesus said to Peter, “You follow Me!” (John 21:22) For if I do not recon with myself, seeking further and further to know my Lord more and more, and do not obey my Lord as I know I ought to do (James 4:17), then I could end up like Moses who disobeyed the Lord and was denied entry into the promise land (Numbers 20:8-13) and be told by the Lord that I profess, “Be away from Me, I never knew you.” (Matthew 7:21-23)

For me this very day, this season, this very hour, nothing less than a repentant obedience I must make, and thus authentically declare, that Christ indeed is enough. Obedience unto action in every facet of my life is what is demanded of the grace by faith I proclaim in the Jesus Christ. Oh that He would come and be all that I behold.

“Encourage the exhausted, and strengthen the feeble.
Say to those with anxious heart,
“Take courage, fear not.
Behold, your God will come with vengeance;
The recompense of God will come,
But He will save you.”
Then the eyes of the blind will be opened
And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.”

Isaiah 35:3-5

“There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. . . . Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God’s Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord. . . .” ~Spurgeon

What shall I add to my Savior,

Oh what shall assist His strength;

Is He not enough for my eye to see,

Is He not enough for my ear to hear;

For why does my heart seek to not be at peace,

Why do I look upon the strength of man and his approval;

Could it be that I have become fallow,

Could it be that I have traded His joy for the temporal;

Is Christ enough, oh really enough,

Or have I declared, “let me add this one thing or another;”

If Christ be enough, as He has said,

Then let me hit my knees and repent.
